Ukraine, Kiev, Dec. 24 / Trend , Z.Novsvitskiy/ In Ukraine, State enterprise National atomic power generating company Energoatom jointly with general designer Kievenergoproyekt Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) stated about their intentions to finish construction of the third and fourth power units of the Khmelnitsi Nuclear Power Station, official media reported.
Construction of two power units was cancelled in 1990 after Supreme Rada's announcement of moratorium on construction of new Nuclear Power Stations in the Ukrainian territory. At present construction preparedness of the power unit 3 of the Khmelnitsi Nuclear Power Station makes up 75% and the power unit 4 - 28%.
Construction of units will be designed in three stages: feasibility study, project and working documentation. It is planned to assess influence on environment during construction and exploitation of power units at the feasibility study stage.
It is expected to build two units at capacity of 1,000 MW for each with VVER reactor installation. The planned term of exploitation of units covers 40 years.
Ukrainian construction and contractor organizations will be drawn in building of units. An expected need in new jobs during a construction period makes up 5,600 people. Service staff of two new units will comprise 1,200 people after construction.
According to preliminary estimations, construction of the third and fourth power units of the Khmelnitsi Nuclear Power Station costs about 15bln hryven ($1 - 7.8 hryven).
