Reconstruction will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will be completed by the end of 2010 and provide 75 percent of town residents with drinking water and 70 percent with a sewerage system. Exploration work on the Kish and Gurjana rivers has launched as part of the second phase.
The project will improve the quality and reliability of the water supply and sewerage system in Ganja and Sheki. The budget of the first phase of the project is 55 million euro. Under the agreements signed in Bern in October 2006, KfW will issue a 37-million-euro loan and Seco - a 10-million-euro grant. The Azerbaijani government's share in the project is 8 million euro.
