Kazakhstan, Astana, Feb. 12 / Trend - Capital, K.Konirova /

The Transport and Communications Ministry will intensify measures to ensure flight safety, Minister Serik Akhmetov said in Astana.

"Strengthening technical requirements will allow outdated Soviet-made aviation to be removed, such as the AN-24 and Yak-40. The strategic goal is to update our fleet via KazAviaLizing," Akhmetov said.

Three Kazakh aviation companies were prohibited from flying to EU countries. Three companies were also banned from operating international flights due to violations of safety requirements.

The Civil Aviation Committee is upgrading its park by introducing IKAO international standards by 2010.
