Tariff for water use is not expected to increase in Azerbaijan, Nizameddin Rzayev, head of Azersu OJSC (distribution and sale of water), said on Feb. 13.

Tariff is not high. Despite a low level of payment collection for water, we are not going to increase tariff," Rzayev said.

Azersu OJSC rendered services to people in the amount of 110 million manat in 2008. Roughly 60 percent fell on water supplied to the population, he said.

Upon decision of the Tariff Council dated January 2007, cost of one cubic meter of water for the population of Baku, Sumqayit, Ganja, Khirdalan, Mingechevir, Shirvan and entire Apsheron Peninsula totals 0.18 manat, other categories of people - 0.70 manat. The population pays 0.04 manat per one cubic meter of wastewater, other categories of people - 0.20 manat. The population pays 0.03 manat in other Azerbaijani regions, other categories of people - 0.20 manat.
