Ten percent of Georgians have insurance

Most Georgians do not have health insurance, a survey by the Kviris Palitra newspaper revealed.

Only 10 percent of the 423 surveyed readers have insurance.

According to official statistics, 1.200 citizens have state health insurance in Georgia. They are pensioners, teachers, military and socially unprotected individuals.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili launched a new initiative on Feb. 12. Every citizen will be able to enjoy 8,000-lari health insurance for 20 lari per year ($1 is equal to 1.6730 lari).
