AIC interested in TRACECA

The Azerbaijani Investment Company (AIC) is interested in partaking in the TRACECA International Logistical Centers for Western NIS and Caucasus project, TRACECA Azerbaijani National Secretary Akif Mustafayev said on Feb. 24.

The project will be realized within 24 months. The objective is to support international trade and facilitate the movement of goods along the TRACECA corridor by improving logistical capabilities, interoperability and multi-modal transport. The project will develop financial, technical, environmental and institutional conditions.

Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine are direct project partners. Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey are indirect partners. The main project office will be opened in Kiev.

Following the results of a tender carried out by the European Commission, the consortium led by Dornier Consulting was announced the contractor of the project. The contractor will provide a set of feasibility studies for priority logistical centers to be developed in the TRACECA corridor in participant countries, with a focus on public private partnerships and efficient customs services.

The studies will include needs assessments and surveys of logistical capacities, the preliminary design for different categories of required services, equipment and investments, business and organizational plans and financial and economic analysis .

The company was established by presidential decree on March 30, 2006.
