Global crisis slightly damages Azerbaijan: Turkish entrepreneurs society

Azerbaijan is almost the world's only country which slightly suffered from the global economic crisis, the Azerbaijan International Turkish Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Society (TUSIAB) Board Chairman Yavuz Kelesh said on Feb. 28.

"I think Azerbaijan very attentively approaches to this issue, because the government supports it and on the other hand, the country is rich with natural resources," Kelesh said.

Kelesh said the crisis situation affected the Turkish investments' amounts in Azerbaijan's economy which could be much more. However, he refused to divulge concrete figures.

"Despite this, the Turkish businessmen intend to maintain their current position," Kelesh said. "The Azerbaijani government's measures support our entrepreneurs very much."

The TUSIAB head believes the global crisis should its rates in mid 2009 and at worst - to end by 2009.

The Turkish experts assume the crisis situation will affect the tourism sector slightly, despite price cut.

At present TUSIAB held a next workshop on "Companies' measures to reduce influence of the global financial crisis on economy" for its member companies. The workshop aims to assist employers.

Owners and directors of TUSIAB companies attended the workshop.

The society plans to organize some workshops for leading companies and employers on different topics.
