Azerbaijan, Jordan to improve economic relations

Azerbaijan and Jordan signed a protocol at the end of the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade, economic and technical cooperation, the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry said on Feb. 28.

From Azerbaijan, Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev and from Jordan - Industry and Trade Minister Amir Al-Khalidi signed the document.

The intergovernmental commission meeting took place in Oman on Feb. 25-26. The meeting focused on cooperation between the two countries in trade, industry and energy, as well as communication and information technology, agriculture, customs, air and sea transport, culture and tourism, education and health.

"Both presidents' mutual visit enabled to establish political relations at a high level which launched a new stage of economic cooperation," Mustafayev said.

A key task is to reach economic relations to the level of the political relations which necessitates implementing the countries' acting potential, he said.
 
"Unifying efforts between the countries will lead to great development of economic cooperation," Amir Al-Khalidi said.

The Jordanian minister also was interested in expanding economic relations between his country and Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani delegation comprised officials of the Foreign Ministry, Health, Communication and Information Technology Ministries, the National Bank, as well as the Civil Aviation Administration and Azerbaijani Embassy in Jordan.
 
The Azerbaijani-Jordanian business-forum took place as part of the visit, as well.
