In the first quarter, growth of GDP in the in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) of Azerbaijan increased by 22 percent to 162 million manat compared to the same period in 2008, NAR Baku office reported.
Some 44.4 percent or 72 million manat of GDP accounted for production of commodities, 83 (51.6 percent) million for service. Net profits in import and export made of four percent, or 6.4 million manat of GDP.
The growth in the industrial sphere hit 39 million manat (23.9 percent of GDP), 24 million (14.7 percent) - in construction, 5.7 million (3.5 percent) - in transport, 5.2 million (3.2 percent) - in communications, 34 million (21.5 percent) - in retail and wholesale, including repair of automobile and various domestic appliances.
