Air communication was established between Batumi and Baku. Head of the government of the Ajara Autonomous Republic Levan Varshalomidze and Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) Director General discussed this issue at the meeting, the Ajara government told Trend .
Flights will be carried out in June and the aircraft will fly on the Baku-Tbilisi-Batumi route three times a week.
"The first negotiations to establish the air communication between Batumi and Baku took place two months ago during my visit to Baku and at the meeting with AZAL management. Owe aim to provide delivery of the Azerbaijani tourists to the Georgian Black sea shores. We think the Azerbaijani segment in a tourist flow in Ajara may seriously increase," Varshalomidze said.
He said this flight can be used as an alternative transit way.
