Experts from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) are to present a package of measures to tackle the global economic crisis at a St. Petersburg forum in June, a deputy SCO secretary general said, RIA Novosti reported.

The June 4-6 forum will be devoted to urgent issues of global development. It will be divided into two parts, covering economic and financial topics, and involve more than 2,000 participants.

"At the St. Petersburg forum, which is being organized by the SCO business council, both scientists and statesmen should exchange views and draw up a program on cooperating with SCO members to cope with the economic crisis," Vladimir Zakharov said.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) comprises Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The group primarily addresses security issues, but has recently moved to embrace economic and energy projects.

RIA Novosti is the official media sponsor for the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
