Azerbaijan, China launch joint venture to produce cars

Chinese Lifan and Nakhchivan automobile plant of Azerbaijan have signed a contract to launch a joint venture to assembly Lifan cars in Azerbaijan, a source close to the project said.

"The agreement was signed in Beijing as a part of the meeting of the Azerbaijan-China inter-governmental commission," a source said.

About 108 sets are expected to be delivered to Azerbaijan in late August or early September to assemble cars.

Chinese specialists will arrive in Nakhchivan soon to conduct balancing and commissioning work necessary for assembling of cars.

Four modifications of Lifan-NAZ cars will be assembled including Lifan-320 and Lifan - 520. The major sales market of cars will be Azerbaijan. Necessary facilities will be established to serve Lifan cars all over the country.

Nakhchivan automobile plant has capacity of about 1,500 automobiles per year.
