IDB's aid is more significant in terms of crisis: President of Turkmenistan

Financial aid of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) for members-countries acquired more urgency and significance in terms of current global crisis, the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at the summit of IDB managers in Ashgabat on June 2.

"Today tasks and goals of IDB connected with increasing of cooperation of the bank with members-countries via increasing of operations, including acceleration of preferential financing and rendering of technical aid, as well as increasing of number and quality of educational programs acquired more urgency and significance in terms of global financial-economic crisis," the Turkmen president said. Ceremony of annual IDB summit was held under patronage of the Turkmen President. 

IDB being effective instrument of strengthening and extending of partnership is the international financial institute capable to render effective support to achieve stabile social-economic growth for IDB members-countries, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

IDB board of executive directors approved financing of projects in the amount of $575 million in Bangladesh, Suriname, Lebanon, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and Turkmenistan at the meeting in Ashgabat. Development projects envisage support in creation of infrastructure in transport and power engineering, as well as provision of population with food and drinkable water.
