Black Sea Trade & Development Bank launches new projects in region's countries

The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) has launched new projects in the region's countries, BSTDB President Hayrettin Kaplan said after the Black regional economic forum held in Saloniki (Greece).

"Our region is one those, except several countries, which is experiencing a positive growth and the global crisis has not significantly affected this," Kaplan said. "Therefore, we continue our projects in the region."

He said at present the bank is implementing a new project in construction, as well as several - in production field.

"We have finished the project with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in a retail trade and the bank's other projects are underway, some of them are under completion," Kaplan said.

So far, Greece, Russia and Turkey remain giant shareholders of the bank with a 16-5 percent of shares for each, Romanian owns 14 percent, Bulgaria and Ukraine - each 13.5 percent, Azerbaijan - 5 percent, Albania - 2 percent, Armenia and Moldova - one percent for each and Georgia - 0.5 percent.

Manager at the Black Sea Bank from Azerbaijan is Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev and his deputy is Finance Minister Samir Sharifov.

The Black Sea Trade & Development Bank functions since June 1 in 1999.
