Tariffs on tourism services will not be cut in Azerbaijan, Head of the Azerbaijani Tourism and Culture Ministry Tourism Department Aydin Ismiyev said on June 18.

"Prices on tourism services will be cut, if the demand decreases which is not yet observed," Ismiyev said.

If the country's tourism facilities experience a considerable decrease, tariffs can be reconsidered, he said.

"If the people come to rest even under the tariffs which currently exist, then it is difficult to speak about a considerable cut. Prices at hotel facilities are regulated with the market rules in Azerbaijan, the government does not regulate them," Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfaz Garayev said earlier.

There were around 90 hotels in Azerbaijan in 2002, while at present this figure is 377 and 59 of them have been built in the country's regions.
