On June 23, Baku hosted the Azerbaijani-Chinese business-forum organized by the Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs National Confederation (AENC) and All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce.
The forum was attended by some 30 Azerbaijani and 20 Chinese entrepreneurs from fields, such as construction, furniture production, petro-chemistry, electrical engineering, health and others.
The business-forum aims to expand the current business relations between Azerbaijan and China, as well as create the new ones, acting president of the AENC Etibar Aliyev said at the forum.
Aliyev said goods turnover between Azerbaijan and China increased thrice and amounted to $977 million in 2008 compared to 2007 and there are real opportunities to up these figures.
According to many specialists' estimates, Azerbaijan's economy ranks first amongst former Soviet countries on efficiency of use of investment, Representative of the All-China Federation Tsuan Chzhechu said at the forum.
Regarding active development of the Azerbaijani economy, Chinese entrepreneurs intend to actively cooperate in exchanging investments with Azerbaijan, he said.
In January-April, goods turnover between Azerbaijan and China was $104.21 million and Azerbaijan's export to China amounted to $1.13 million, the State Statistical Committee reported.
