India interested in Western Europe – Western China transport project

Indian companies are interested in implementing the Western Europe - Western China mega-project, the Kazakh Ministry of Transport and Communications reported.

"Minister of Transport and Communications Abelgazi Kusainov met with Indian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Ashok Sanjahar, head of the country's delegation, who came with offers of cooperation," the ministry said.

The meeting focused on key Indian companies' participation in the project of construction of international road corridor "Western Europe - Western China", the report says.

"Today, participation in this mega-project was confirmed by five international banks and the world's several major companies are considering participation in the construction and reconstruction of separate sections of the corridor," Minister Kusainov said.

The head of the transport department has also proposed to consider the possibility of Indian companies' participation in four concession projects in the road sector with a total length of 800 kilometers.

"During the meeting the sides agreed to consider the opportunity of Indian companies' participation in implementing transport and other infrastructure projects, as well as aspects of cooperation between JSC Kazakhstan transportation leasing company and Indian company Integrated Electric to apply a mechanism for leasing to the transport industry," the press release said.
