At the proposal of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the State Committee for Land and Cartography of Azerbaijan is developing a map of mud volcanoes, the head of the State Committee Garib Mammadov said on July 13.
According to him, the whole area of mud volcanoes will be reflected on the map as a natural heritage of the country.
Azerbaijan is the birthplace of mud volcanism. There are more than 300 mud volcanoes in the territory of Eastern Azerbaijan and the area adjoining the Caspian Sea. Recently, the country has issued a guide "Mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan.
There are more than 800 mud volcanoes in the world, of which 300 are located in Azerbaijan.
