Azerbaijan, Baku, July 15 / Trend I. Khalilova /

The Azerbaijani government rendered financial aid to Tajikistan to the amount of $100,000 to support injured as a result of acts of God in spring 2009, the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers told Trend on July 15.

"Aid was rendered on the basis of official statement of the Tajik side. The government taking into account urgent situation in Tajikistan allocated $100,000 from reserve fund," the government said.

Usually these issues are discussed within CIS. Decisions are made at meetings of CIS heads of governments and it would take much time.

Heavy precipitations in Tajikistan in April-May 2009 caused mudflow and landslide, rockfall and increase of water level in rivers. Roughly 40 regions of the Republic were covered by disaster.

According to Tajik committee on emergency situations and civil defense, roughly 2,500 houses were damaged as a result of natural disaster. Over 20 percent of these houses can not be restored, CA-NEWS (TJ) reported. According to the Tajik government, total sum of damage exceeds $100 million.
