Presentation of Association of Textile and Garments held in Azerbaijan

Baku hosted presentation of the Association of Textile and Ready-made Garments (AZTEX), established under the private sector development program of the German Technical Cooperation Society (GTZ), GTZ announced.

Attending the event were 25 representatives from fabric and ready-made garments in Azerbaijan. They were informed about objectives, strategy and services that AZTEX targets to render its members. Participants in the textile market supported the establishment of such Association.

Nasimi Dadashev, AZTEX president, major objectives of the association is to back members in all business requirements and types of activities, establish and develop contacts between national and international business and representation of its members in other organizations and establishments. He also acquainted the participants with possible services and activities with support of AZTEX, related to supplying data to the market and this production to textile and garment producers, holding workshop and training, rendering consultative services, necessary support to participation in international events.

Establishment of AZTEX was supported by GTZ specialists on textile. The participants were also informed of current situation in the market, actual market and marketing tendencies in the international textile and ready-made garment markets and opportunities for developing AZTEX and Azerbaijani companies. Experts explained structure and services on the example of successful international associations, based on advanced experience.

"With the consideration large and increasing rivalry in the world textile market the professional association will have great significance for companies in Azerbaijan. AZTEX can support development of business of its members," the experts said.

According to ASPI Consulting Engineers estimations, sector needs 200 million manat to upgrade, to apply production planning system, to design development strategy, to enter the regional markets, to attract investments, to use international accountancy and quality management.

Furthermore, along with technological lag, the field lacks quality control system, production planning and literate production management. Energy expenses, comprising 30-40 percent of direct price evolves problems with rivalry. There are also problems with specialists, which impedes renewal of technologies, whilst extensive management system leads to increase in specific expenses in production.

There are 36 privatized clothing and spinning enterprises in Azerbaijan.
