Azerbaijan, Baku, August 14 / Trend , I.Khalilova /

To publicize the results of a joint report of the World Bank and International Finance Corporation "Doing Business 2010: How to reform", a videoconference will be held in Baku on September 10 with the participation of report's authors, the IFC Baku office said.

The government expects a significant improvement of position in the rating of the World Bank assessing the simplicity of doing business. Simplifying business registration (since 2008 the principle of "single window" has been introduced by the Ministry of Taxes) and the passage of goods and vehicles through the customs check-points (since 2009 - "single window" at customs), improving tax policies and taking measures for the registration of real estate have played a significant role in improving the business climate in the country.

Azerbaijan continues taking measures in order to maintain the leading position as a reformer country in the regulation of business. Last year, the world's top ten reformers included Albania, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Botswana, Dominican Republic, Colombia and Egypt.

Azerbaijan ranked the 33-rd place from the 96-th taken in 2008 in Doing Business-2009 by making unexampled spurt in rate of countries on business-climate acceptability. So, our country was recognized leader in economic reforms. Azerbaijan became not only a leader on rates of economic development but in economic reforms directed on improvement of business.

Doing Business report has been published since 2004 by adding list of criteria annually. Rate of the country is made upon this list. So, there were five criteria in 2004. Research was held on 10 directions in the last report: launching of business, permission for construction, admission and dismissal from job, property registration, getting of loans, protection of investors' interests, payment of taxes, registration of export-import operations, fulfillment of contracts, closing of business.

Azerbaijan rather improved its positions on 7 of 10 criteria in the last report. For example, Azerbaijan ranked the 64-th place in "launching of business" in 2008 but ranked the 13-th place in the new report. Azerbaijan hit the 15-th place in "admission and dismissal from job" but earlier hit the 80-th place. Azerbaijan hit the 9-th place in "property registration" but earlier hit the 56-th place. Azerbaijan hit 12 in "getting of loans" but earlier hit the 26-th place. But the most evident result was reached in section "protection of investors' rights" in which Azerbaijan ranked the 18-th place though it hit the 107-th place in the last report.
