The Turkish company Polimeks Insaat Tahhut ve Sanai Tijaret A.S. has put a drinking water plant worth $28 million into operation in the suburbs of Ashgabat, official Turkmen sources reported.
The ceremony was held in the Daykhan territory of the Akbugday District of the Akhal Province. This is the fourth plant for the capital's water supply. The plant's capacity is 250,000 cubic meters of water per day. Special equipment was imported from Italy and Germany.
The Ashgabat Administration was the general contractor. The Turkmen capital is experiencing a "construction boom"; the Ashgabat City Business Centre, the Olympic Village, the Presidential Complex, and new residential areas are all under construction, the old part of the city is being reconstructed and new transport infrastructure is being created.
