Recent reduction in the insurance market of the country affected the volume of insurance premiums collected by insurers for the seven months of 2009. Insurance collections decreased by nearly 37 percent and payments by 41.4 percent, compared to early 2009. The total volume of insurers' premiums for the 2008 amounted to 179.26 million manat and payments - 49.81 million manat.
This situation also affected the capitalization rate of insurance companies. Although the requirement for minimum authorized capital of the Azerbaijani insurers for the Jan.1.2009, were 1 million manat, currently this norm was not fulfilled by the five insurance companies. Understanding the situation, the Finance Ministry gave them time to fulfill the requirements.
The activity of the only reinsurance company AzRe Tekrarsigorta was not indicated in the table.
On Sept.11, the official exchange rate Is 0.8033 manat to $1.
