Azerbaijani corporate market hits 25 percent

In January-August 2009, turnover of corporate securities in Azerbaijan was 302.96 million manat which is by 26 percent tops the figure in the same period of 2008, the State Committee on Securities reported.

The number of deals during this period amounted to 2,616, compared to 4,295 in the same period of 2008.

Turnover of stakes was 231.1 million manat with a 19-percent increase from 2008 and growth of the primary stake market was 39 percent and growth of secondary market shares, placed at Baku Stock Exchange, amounted to 59.2 percent.

Turnover of the corporate bonds was 71.85 million manat with a 55-percent increase. The basis of the growth rate of this figure comprises growth in the secondary market for corporate bonds by 17.6 times.

In January-August, turnover of the market for government securities amounted to 2.55 billion manat, which is 50percent lower than the same period last year.

Market size of government bonds rose by 94 percent, reaching 469.92 million manat, and notes market of the country's Central Bank decreased by 7679 percent and was 313.3 million manat.

Operations on REPO and reverse REPO was 1.771 billion manat

On Sept.12, the official exchange rate is 0.8033 manat to $1.
