The Azerbaijan Railways has resumed passenger train traffic with a number of restrictions on domestic routes Hajigabul-Pirsaat and Shirvan-Alat, which had been suspended as a result of erosion of ways, caused by heavy rains.
The JSC "Azerbaijan Railways" reported on Monday that the traffic in this direction has been suspended on Sept. 20 and resumed on the same day at 23:32 hours (Baku time).
Yesterday at approximately 15:00, heavy rains washed out 800 meters of railway lines in the area between the Pirsaat-Hajigabul points. In addition, about 200 meters of a 37-kilometer Shirvan-Garagun road remained under water. This incident caused failure of the Hajigabul-Shirvan, Hajigabul-Pirsaat, and Shirvan-Garagun-Khidirli routes, the power supply was halted and communications in the Hajigabul Nava-Alat-Sigirly substations were terminated.
The Azerbaijan Railways announced an emergency situation at its all facilities to remove the consequences of the natural disaster.
