Azerbaijani ministry of transport prepares for completion of large transport project

Construction and reconstruction of Baku-Shamakhi-Muganli road will be completed by late November, head of Azeryolservis OJSC, Javid Gurbanov, said on October 13.

"Baku-Shamakhi (...) road will be put into operation till October 15. There are some problems with road after Shamakha. Water wells were revealed while operating there. A 118-kilometer- Baku-Shamakhi-Muganli road with all attributes will be ready by late November," Gurbanov said.

The project aims to reduce transport expenses and increase of access, transit and ensuring of road security to pass via Azerbaijani corridors East-West.

Its construction is estimated to the amount of $90.11 million upon approved project. Initially, construction operations are planned to be held to the amount of $72.09 owing to WB funds but $18.02 million - owing to Azerbaijani side. The ministry of transport has already made new calculations due to rise in price of the project. But they are not announced yet.

Azeryolservis is a part of the ministry of transport and deals with road projects. Italian company Todini Costruzioni Generali S.p.A is general contractor of the project. Finnish company Finroad is consultant of the project.
