Income of the Azerbaijani tourism companies increased by one percent to 8 million manat in the first half of 2009 compared to the same period of 2008, the State Statistics Committee said on Oct. 20.
In January to June about 115 companies operated in Azerbaijan. Some 98.3 percent of them were private companies and number of employees amounted to 1,361 people.
In the same period of 2008, the number of vouchers increased by 4.4 percent to 15,000 units and 14,300 of them (95.3 percent) were sold to the Azerbaijani citizens.
In January to June 2008, the total value of vouchers increased by 29.4 percent to 5.7 million manat and cost of the vouchers sold to the Azerbaijani citizens was 4.7 million manat.
The total cost of vouchers sold to foreign citizens for rest in Azerbaijan hit 300,400 manat and for the Azerbaijani citizens-766,900 manat.
During this period the tourism companies operating in the country received 7,900 tourists and send off 21,200.
