Corporate securities markets ups in Azerbaijan

On Oct. 29, the Azerbaijani State Securities Committee (SCS) held a report meeting chaired by head of the committee Rufat Aslanli, on the results of the activity for the three quarters of 2009, said the committee.

According to the Chairman of SCS, during the reporting period, the country's GDP grew by 6.1 percent, industrial production by five percent, agricultural production by three percent, while investment in fixed assets reached 5.2 billion manat. Inflation in the country amounted to 2.1 percent, incomes rose 10 percent, and average wages increased by more than 15 percent and was $370.

Aslanli welcomed the introduction of the new tools in the securities market in this period.

According to the deputy head of the research and market development department, Natig Mustafayev, in this period, the corporate securities market experienced dynamics, exceeding the overall growth of the economy and financial sector. The corporate securities market increased by 11.2 percent, while a 3.1-percent growth was observed on the initial placement of stakes.

Following the meeting, the head of the committee evaluated the results of activities as appropriate and gave instructions to develop plans for the medium-term strategies of structural units of the committee to further strengthen the capacity of departments.

On Oct. 31, the official exchange rate is 0.8032 manat to $1.
