The only swine flu patient still receiving treatment at the Azerbaijani Lung Diseases Research Institute may be discharged today, Chief Physician Khayyam Mammadov said today.
"The patient was completely cured of the A/H1N1 virus, but continues to receive treatment for bilateral pneumonia and other complications," he added.
According to Mammadov, the patient undergoes an additional medical examination, after which he will be discharged.
So far, Azerbaijan has reported 14 cases of swine flu.
All medical facilities belonging to the Azerbaijani Health Ministry have upped their security due to the swine flu. The ministry has given instructions to medical personnel around the country to take preventive measures in their institutions and check all persons registered at each local clinic. According to the ministry, active measures are taken in children's clinics, schools and kindergartens.
The WHO has donated 300 million doses of a vaccine against the A/H1N1 virus to 90 countries, including Azerbaijan. The first shipment will be delivered to the country in November. Vaccination will be carried out among people at risk group.
