Turkmenistan and Russia are planning to enhance their relations with both governments planning to open a trade house in their partner country early next year, a Turkmen official source said.
These facilities will provide "greater trade and economy cooperation with foreign partners, including Russia, and serve the common interests of both sides," Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov said at the recent state meeting.
Roughly 147 economic entities are operating in Turkmenistan with the participation of Russian capital. Turkmen and Russian experts are implementing about 127 projects in various economic and social sectors.
Turkmenistan is actively developing relations with Russia's major regions, including Tatarstan, Astrakhan, Sverdlovsk and Saint Petersburg. Gazprom, Stroytransgaz, Itera, Zarubezhneft and KAMAZ operate in these regions.
In January-October 2009, trade turnover between Russia and Turkmenistan was $900 million, excluding gas transportation.
