The Azerbaijani Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has launched developing a united database on disabled persons, the Ministry said today.

The unified database will contain information on disabled persons' families, reasons of disability, their needs for technical rehabilitation and other data, which can be used for complex attitude towards disabled persons' problems, as well as the implementation of social and rehabilitation measures on the basis of individual plans of medical rehabilitation of disabled persons.

All measures are taken in order to provide integration of disabled persons to the society, the Ministry said.

The Ministry's working Group on establishment of a unified database of disabled persons plans to launch filing the survey questionnaires in the Ministry's local authorities, central and regional commissions of the social and medical examination in order to obtain information on all disabled persons throughout the country in near future.

There are 410,000 disabled persons in Azerbaijan. Creating a unified database on disabled persons will enable to strengthen the work on social protection of disabled persons and persons with various disabilities, as well as their timely provision with rehabilitation means and improvement living conditions.
