Four miners died in a blast at the Tkibuli mine in western Georgia. Gruzugol Director General Merab Chrelashvili told Trend in Tbilisi that methane leaked at the mine causing the explosion.
Four miners died on the spot and several were injured. One is in serious condition.
Imereti Governor Lasha Makatsaria, who is familiar with the situation, has visited the explosion area.
According to the official, an investigation is underway.
