Russia is holding preparatory work to construct a rail plant in Iran, Iranian Deputy Transport Minister on Programming Majid Asadi was quoted as saying by IRINN.
He said a contract to build the plant was signed at a Russian-Iranian meeting on cargo transport cooperation.
Iran and Russia also reached an agreement to increase the number of icebreakers in the ports of Astrakhan and Olya, Asadi said.
The two nations reached agreement to enhance conditions for anchorage in the port of Astrakhan via a joint investment from the private sector to conduct repair works at ports in both countries, he added.
