Caspian Shipping Company announces date of new port point commissioning

Until March 20, Azerbaijani State Caspian Shipping Company (Kaspar) intends to put into operation a new dry cargo port point in Baku, Kaspar head Aydin Bashirov said at a press conference at the New Azerbaijan party’s headquarters today.

Until March 20, Azerbaijani State Caspian Shipping Company (Kaspar) intends to put into operation a new dry cargo port point in Baku, Kaspar head Aydin Bashirov said at a press conference at the New Azerbaijan party's headquarters today.

"It is expected that till Novruz holiday (March 20) new dry cargo port point will be put into operation," Bashirov said.

According to him, about 26.5 million manats have been allocated for the construction works by the state.

The new port will have the capacity to conduct unloading-loading six vessels simultaneously.

Also not far from this point Kaspar carries mounting dockyard, which had previously been within the precincts of the city.

This plant will be able to repair their own ships in Azerbaijan, as well as the the ships of other countries if they make order. Turkmenistan intends to send two of its ships to Azerbaijan for the repair next month.

The main purposes of the construction of this point are improvement of the ecology, transfer enterprises from the center of the capital and increase amount of cargo transportation from Azerbaijan.
