Cement output up 23%

Iran has produced over 47.44 million tons of cement in the first eleven months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2009).

The amount shows a 17 percent increase in comparison to the same period in the previous year, the Mehr News Agency reported.

Some 62.84 million tons of clinker were also produced in the mentioned period which is 15 percent more than the year before.

According to the data published by the Industries and Mines Ministry some 4 million tons of cement have been produced in the Iranian month of Bahman (January 21- February 19) which is 23 percent more than the same period in the previous year.

Some 4.7 million tons of clinker were also produced in the mentioned period which shows a 26 percent rise compared to the previous year.

Iran currently produces some 65 million tons of cement per year.

Eight cement projects are projected to come on stream by this month to boost Iran's cement production capacity to 76 million tons.
