Anglo Asian Mining plc, the only gold producer in Azerbaijan, produced 4007 ounces of gold in gold/copper mine Gedabey in Azerbaijan during February, 2010, the company said.
"The company produced 4007 ounces of gold in February, as a result of total production, launched in July 2009, reached 18,855 ounces," the company said.
Leadership of the company expects that production will exceed its revised target volumes for the first 12 months of work until June 30, 2010, amounting to 25,000 ounces of gold, which will also benefit from raising gold prices.
In February, Anglo Asian Mining plc started a process of recovery and refining of copper. Copper will be produced in the form of concentrate, which will also contain silver commercial value. The first results achieved in this sphere of production, are promising. After optimization of the production process, plant automation system will be installed. The plant's capacity is 1800 tons of copper concentrates per year, though the volume of production will depend on the mineralogy of ores and process efficiency. The results of the primary analysis show that copper concentrate contains 60-70 percent copper and from 4,000 to 6,000 grams of silver per ton
The company has the right to develop six fields in the southwest of Azerbaijan - Gedabek, Ordubad, Gosha Bulag, Gizil Bulag, Vezhnali and Soyutlu based on the PSAs signed with Azerbaijani government in August 1997.
