Tehran and Astana open regular flights

Tehran hosted the opening ceremony of regular direct flights between Kazakhstan and Iran today, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry told Trend.

"The Kazakh aviation authorities and Mahan Air company reached an agreement to open direct flights Tehran-Almaty-Tehran June 16," the ministry reported.

Both sides expressed confidence that the opening of the air links will provide a new content to relations between the two countries. Moreover, it will provide an opportunity for Astana and Tehran to intensify bilateral relations in the political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as strengthen ties between the Kazakh and the Iranian peoples.

"Kazakhstan and Iran have achieved tangible results in their bilateral relations over the past 18 years of cooperation. The sides have also been tasked with bringing the level of mutual trade turnover to $10 billion," the ministry reported.
