Italy is aimed to increase trade with Azerbaijan, Director of the Department for Development of the Relations of the Italian Embassy in Azerbaijan Luciano Di Sante said.
"Our future prospects are based on increasing the volume of trade with Azerbaijan, and although we have made great positive moves in this direction in recent years, we'll work on it further," he said.
He said the export volumes from Azerbaijan to Italy amounted to $3,788 billion and imports - $127.725 million in 2009.
"Most of the Azerbaijani exports fell to oil exports in the amount of $3.646 billion, while imports - machinery in the amount of $10 million and sanitary engineering - $3.738 million," Di Sante said.
Di Sante said Italy considers sectors as such construction, furniture manufacturing and design as promising areas of cooperation.
