Azerbaijan to take part in UN Global Compact Leaders Summit

Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijani Insurance Company "Qarant Sıgorta" Vagif Hasanov on Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Ban Ki-moon's official invitation will attend the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit, to be held June 24-25 in New York, the company said.

The summit, led by UN Secretary-General, which will be attended by leaders of almost a thousand civil societies, private enterprises, businesses structures that operate in many countries around the world, dedicated to the transition to more profitable and stable business environment, as well as issues that are of considerable importance for ensuring the safety of future generations and the planet in general.

Besides discussing the priority sectors of the transition to a new period of stability, at the summit, held once every three years, it is planned to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the global agreement. In addition, issues related to the organization of the next summit will be discussed.

The purpose of the UN Global Compact Summit, founded in 2000, is to develop a strategy for large businesses and organizations not involved in the business sphere, which will allow them to build their activity on the universal principles and thus support the UN's intentions, in particular the Millennium agreement. Some 7,000 organizations from 135 countries joined this initiative.
Qarant Sığorta Company started its activity Nov. 27, 2007. The founder of the company is one of the largest holdings of the country - "ZQAN Holdinq". The authorized capital is 4 million manat.
