Ashgabat to host Int'l Investment Forum in autumn

International Investment Forum, organized by the British company IC Energi Limited will be held in Ashgabat October 18-19, official Turkmen source said.

This issue was discussed at the last governmental meeting headed by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov. He said that a number of major projects were succeffuly realized due to extensive investments in the country.

The Turkmen President instructed to ensure a high level of preparation for this event. He aid that it would develop economic and trade relations with world developed countries, increase the volume of foreign investments, finance realized projects.

The first such event was held in Ashgabat in October 2009. Investment Forum of Turkmenistan was held in Abu Dhabi (UAE) in early 2010.

About 600 heads of major companies, stock exchanges, commercial banks, representatives of consulting and rating agencies from more than 50 countries attended the previous Ashgabat forum.

Investment projects in areas such as real estate, construction, engineering and transport infrastructure, textile industry, banking, healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, agribusiness, telecommunications and advanced information technologies, electricity, alternative energy sources were proposed to the participants.

Turkmenistan is one of key suppliers of fossil fuels in the Caspian region. During the last period the country took many actions implement the national economy of market relations.

The national currency was devalued and denominated during a short period of time. A rate of manat toward the world's dominant currency was unified. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Monetary Fund and other international financial organizations, appreciate anti-crisis measurestaken by Ashgabat.
