State labour inspection of Azerbaijan ensures payment of 5.7 million manat salaries and other charges

In the first half of this year, the State Labour Inspection of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Azerbaijan conducted control over the observance of labor legislation at 487 public and 1,082 private enterprises, departments and organizations, the head of inspection Nabi Shukurlu said to press conference on the results of the first half.

"During the monitoring and study of public complaints, 5,031 cases of breaches of the law by employers have been identified. 1,157 (23 percent) of violations are connected with the non-conclusion of labor contracts and non-compliance with these contracts, 588 (11.7 percent) with the deficiencies in the calculation of wages or in its issue, 657 (13.06 percent) with poor safety regulations, 505 (10,04 percent) - with medical and social issues," said Shukurlu.

In the first half of year, based on 1,368 applications, 5,742,841 manat was also paid to employees as delayed wages and other charges. Of this amount, 99.2 percent, or 5,699,142 manat account for wages, 0.4 percent or 25,537 manat - social benefits and compensation, and 0.29 percent, or 17,162 manat - compensation for damage.

In general, the Labour Inspection ensured conclusion of labor contracts with 2,718 individuals compared to 2,648 in the same period of 2009, which had previously been working without labor contracts, as well as 755 collective contracts (676 contracts were in the first half of 2009).
