Industrial production increases by 11 percent in Kazakhstan

Industrial production increased by 11 percent in Kazakhstan compared to the same period of last year, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zhanar Aitzhanova said, speaking at a governmental meeting in Astana.

"In Kazakhstan, industrial production increased by 11 percent in the first six months compared to the same period of last year. Growth hits 1.8 percent in the first half of 2009", Aitzhanova said.

She said that an indicator of qualitative changes in the economy is that growth in manufacturing hits 18.3 percent, growth of mining industry - 6.3 percent.

"Growth in the manufacturing industry is provided by the dynamic development of Kazakhstan's engineering, production growth which was 67.8 percent. Further increase in production was 67,5 percent in the chemical industry," Aitzhanova said.
