Azerbaijani Transport Ministry to get equipment

Necessary equipment will be supplied after August 15 within establishment of intellectual traffic management system in Baku, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport said.

According to the report, production of necessary equipment is under completion. After the equipment is received, it will be installed.

Creation of intellectual system will end in February next year. The system is created to regulate and manage passenger transport in Baku. It is planned to complete construction of the center to manage intellectual system by late 2010. Construction work was launched last year, the Ministry of Transport spokesman Namik Gasanov said.

The project cost is approximately $77 million.

It is planned to create about 639 sites for buses, about 140 sites for a taxi. About 375 new stops have been created. It is planned to create 289 stops. It is planned to change the location of 42 stops. About 10 stops will be liquidated. These operations are conducted by traffic police and Korean experts involved in the preparation of the intellectual system.

About 450 new bus stops will be created as part of the intellectual system in Azerbaijan. The electronic scoreboard, which will monitor traffic and bus route (via satellite) will be installed.
