Azerbaijan seized low-quality salt

The State Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Protection Service under the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry's monitoring revealed low iodine content in the salt Billur Tuz produced by the Turkish Rafine Billur Tuz Sanayi A.S, the ministry reported.

The State Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Protection Service under the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry's monitoring revealed low iodine content in the salt Billur Tuz produced by the Turkish Rafine Billur Tuz Sanayi A.S, the ministry reported. 

The monitoring revealed that the salt was imported by SAM-FI International Trading Company, and samples of salt kept in the company's repository were sent for examination.

Based on the analysis, volume of iodine the salt Billur Tuz was below norms and the amount indicated on the packaging.

As a result, the service suspended sale of 5.7 tons of salt. The State Service has also ordered the company to stop sales at all points.
