Georgia, Tbilisi, August 20 / Trend, N. Kirtskhalia /

Wheat shortage will not be observed in Georgia, Minister of Agriculture Bakur Kvezereli said today before the governmental meeting.

"Increase in prices for corn by 10-15 tetri ($1 = 1.84 lari) on the one hand is due to the deficit created in the global market, and on the other hand - the consequent rise in prices," he said.
The minister said that Georgia depends on wheat import by 85 percent and, accordingly, the situation emerged in the world market is reflected in the country's domestic market.

"The main thing is that we have sufficient stock of wheat to avoid panic," Kvezereli said.
