The 19th Urumqi Trade Fair in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region closed on Sunday.

Twelve Iranian companies had participated in the event, Press TV reported.

The annual trade fair had 117 booths booked by businessmen from 22 countries, including Iran, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia and Turkey.

The participating Iranian companies were active in foodstuff production and processing.

There were also 712 booths for China's domestic trade groups. The fair was inaugurated on Wednesday.

"Tehran and Beijing will soon witness a boost and promotion in economic cooperation, given the strides taken in the expansion of relations between the two countries," the Chinese Ambassador to Iran Xie Xiaoyan said in Urumqi on Thursday, IRNA News Agency reported.

He described the exhibition as a means for consolidating industrial and trade ties between the two countries, adding that the 19th Urumqi Trade Fair could act as a linking bridge for the export of Iranian products to China.
