Azerbaijan Insurers Association (AIA) at its Supervisory Board meeting Tuesday decided to hold a general meeting of founders on Oct. 8, the AIA executive director Gafar Majidov said Tuesday after the meeting.
"The meeting of founders is expected to consider the question of electing a new chairman of the Association's Board," Majidov said.
The election of the new leadership of the Association will be held between the chairmen of two insurance companies that are members of the AIA Supervisory Board - International Insurance Company and Azersigorta State Company. However Majidov refused to name the nominations for the position.
According to the statute, each of the five members of the Supervisory Board chairs the Association alternately for a period of one year. Currently, the Association is headed by Azer Aliyev, who is chairman of a large insurance company Ateshgah. The first chairman of the Association was Kamal Ibrahimov (Standard Insurance), second - Jamil Melikov (former chairman of MBASK).
According to Majidov, today's meeting also discussed the results of the first national insurance Olympiad, held on Sept. 18, implementation of AIA budget for the third quarter and plans to organize trainings for insurance companies.
Azerbaijan Insurers Association was established in December 2006. 27 insurance and one reinsurance company operate in Azerbaijan.
