Cement production up 18%

Some 30,800,000 tons of cement have been produced in the first six months of current Iranian calendar year (ended September 22).

The amount shows 18 percent increase in comparison to previous years' figure, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported.

During the Iranian Month of Shahrivar (August 23-September 22) some 5,600,000 tons of cement have been produced which is 23 percent more than the same period previous year.

Jovein Cement Factory, one of the largest cement producing units in Iran, officially came on stream in Khorasan Razavi province on Sunday.

The factory has the capacity to produce 4,000 tons of gray cement per day.

The unit was implemented at the cost of 1,360 billion rials and 23 million euros over the course of three years.

The factory is expected to create 400 direct and 1,900 indirect job opportunities.

Germany and Denmark have provided the factory's equipments.
