Azerbaijan is the main importer of non-oil goods from Iran's Guilan province in the first half of the year (Iranian year begins on March 21), Guilan Province Governor R. Ghahramani, was quoted by Mehr news agency, as saying.
"During this period, Azerbaijan imported 82 percent of the total volume of non-oil goods exported through Iranian customs of the Guilan province," he said.
Over 291.934 tons of non-oil goods worth $138.115 million were exported via the customs of the Guilan Province for six months.
Azerbaijan imported 229.759 tons of non-oil goods worth over $83.503 million.
Currently, another Iranian port is under construction. The amount of investments will hit $28.6 million.
Azerbaijan plans to increase capacity at a gas compressor station on its territory in accordance with the agreement on gas transportation signed between Azerbaijan and Iran, the governor said.
Azerbaijan supplies electricity to the Guilan province in summer. In winter, Iran exports electricity to Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said that the volume of trade turnover between Iran and Azerbaijan amounted to $125.8 million in January - July this year.
