Azerbaijan has issued a license to conduct an audit to three new companies since early 2010, Azerbaijani Auditors' Chamber President Vahid Novruzov said.
"The country has issued licenses to five companies, three of which are new," Novruzov said.
BDO, the world's fifth largest accountancy network, is also among them, he said. BDO has expressed a desire to open a representative office in Azerbaijan and submitted all necessary documents.
"The entrance of such a large company to the Azerbaijani market suggests that the major international companies' interests in the country are growing," Novruzov said.
BDO Network global brings together 46,000 professionals in 115 countries. The process of consolidation of the companies participating in the network under a single brand - BDO completed in 2010.
As of early 2010, 50 legal (48 local, two subsidiaries of foreign companies and representative offices) and 44 independent auditors operate in Azerbaijan.
